The chain, owned by High Tide Inc., originates in Alberta and could become a household name across Canada. According to the company’s website, the goal is to open the maximum number of licensed cannabis retailers allowed in each province.

Quick Hit

Canna Cabana channels a laidback resort style to offer a sleek, uncluttered oasis to shop for cannabis products and accessories.

Vibe

This cannabis store achieves a light, breezy vibe with an open layout, light colour palette, and subtle tropical motifs such as silhouettes of palm leaves and rattan light shades.

Customer Service

Line-ups snaking along the sidewalk to the entrance aren’t uncommon and serve as crowd control to ensure that shoppers in-store aren’t overwhelmed or rushed.

By design, customers need to snag a customer service representative who can answer questions and collect cannabis products from inside locked display cases. Selections are added to a shopping basket and walked to the counter when you’re ready cash out.

Products & Pricing

Tabletop display cases house boxes and containers of cannabis for sale which means that ordering your fave strain can be as easy as pointing.

Only select buds are showcased in sensory jars which means there are limited opportunities to try–or at least, sniff and magnify–before you buy.

The quantities of each product available might suggest an inverse correlation between the popularity of different strains and brands on offer, though there’s no shortage of selection.

Aurora, Canaca, Edison, Liiv, Tokyo Smoke, and Whistler Cannabis, are just a few brands found in store and are available in a range of formats including dried flower, prerolls, oils, and gel capsules.

Aside from cannabis products, find an impressive collection of glass waterpipes on display along with papers, rollers, trays, grinders, vapes, and other accessories behind the counter.

IDs aren’t just de rigueur, they’re required by law, so be sure to show yours to the security staff stationed outside the door. Bring along your empties to take advantage of the house recycling program which diverts cannabis containers from the trash.
